Donut you love the smell of freshly baked treats?

Well if you are a sweetaholic like the rest of us here at Coupland’s you won’t want to resist our newest creation!
A soft and fluffy donut topped with a pink icing and sprinkled with a cinnamon and oat spiced crumble, finished off with a deep red tangy Barkers blackberry filling. Our new donut was created for all the big kids who need an afternoon pick me up and deserve a delightful sweet!
We are always looking for new donut flavours to try in our filled & ring donut range and we love hearing our customers ideas!

The team at Coupland’s Bakeries are proud to announce we received silver in the commercial wholesale category for our Mince & Cheese Pie at New Zealand Bakles Supreme Pie Awards for 2018.

With a very strong and competitive commercial field this year, we are honoured to have received this award with the hard work behind the scenes from our R&D Manager Terrance McMahon and his team.

Making quality products for kiwis is something we love! Since 2013 we have placed every year in the commercial wholesale category which we are pretty dam proud of!

Homemade hot dogs!

 

Get the kids involved in the kitchen this week making homemade hotdogs!

 

Ingredients

• 1-2 tablespoons of oil
• 1 large onion, thinly sliced
• 1 pack of good quality frankfurters
• 6pk of Coupland’s Long White Rolls
• Cheese
• Tomato sauce
• Mild American Mustard

 

Method

1. In a large frying pan add oil and gently cook onion until tender & brown.
2. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil and add frankfurters, simmer for 5 minutes or until heated through.
3. Slice Coupland’s Long White Rolls along the centre top (make sure you don’t cut the roll completely through).
4. Divide onion between each and top with frankfurter & grated cheese.
5. Drizzle with tomato sauce and mustard.

Nana’s Leek and Potato Soup

 

The perfect cure on a chilly winter’s day.  Coupland’s asked our staff for some of their favourite winter recipes and has teamed up with Nana Ruth to deliver you a super easy and delicious homemade soup! Pair it with one of our delicious yummy rolls – we recommend our Classic Long White Rolls or Southern Plains Grain Rolls.

 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 Minutes

 

Ingredients:

• 3 Onions
• 3 Leeks
• 6 Potatoes
• 5 cups Chicken Stock
• 3 Tbsp Butter
• Salt and Pepper

 

To Serve:

• 1 Tsp Cream
• Pinch of Chives or Parsley
• Pinch of Paprika
• 6 pack Coupland’s Southern Plains Grain Rolls

 

Method:

1. Melt butter in a large pot on stove.
2. Add chopped leeks & onions and sauté – until soft.
3. Peel & chop 6 potatoes.
4. Add chicken stock & chopped potatoes to the leeks and bring to the boil for 15-20 mins or until tender.
5. Season generously with salt & pepper.
6. Once cooked – using a stick blender, puree the soup until smooth.
7. Place in bowls and add a dollop of cream, chopped chives or parsley and a pinch of paprika.
8. Serve with Coupland’s delicious Southern Plains Grain Rolls smothered with butter.

The Coupland’s family was proud to open their new Rolleston store on the 25^th May 2018.
With Rolleston being one of the fastest growing towns in New Zealand it is a very exciting time for both us and the community of Rolleston which we are thrilled to now be a part of.

At 9am we had the official opening with the ribbon being cut by Founder Ray Coupland, accompanied by the Managing Director Lance Coupland and Store Manager Bev Jenkins. It was a very proud moment making this our 25^th store nationwide. It had been 12 years since a new South Island store was opened with Ferry Road being the last back in 2006 and losing 2 stores in the Christchurch earthquakes.
We had a great day with lots of specials and prizes to be won. The Mai FM team set up in the carpark with prizes including vouchers, free soft drinks supplied by Coca Cola, free donuts and of course free coffee. Win Bread for a Year was one of the many promotions that ran during the grand opening, with five lucky winners being drawn on the 24^th of June.
The Rolleston store has a vibrant & innovative but warm feel to it, with an easy flowing layout and not to mention our friendly staff. The store offers barista made coffee using Prima Roastery Coffee Bean’s from our local supplier in Woolston..

Last week we released our NEW Choc Brownie Slice and to celebrate that happy occasion we decided to give our loyal customers a chance to try it out in our factory stores, Carmen Road, Christchurch and Karewa, Hamilton. Every customer that entered through our door last Thursday and Friday between 10 am – 11 am and 3 pm – 4 pm had a chance to try a piece of our new slice with a scoop of ice cream on top.

We took some photos for you to have a glimpse into how everything looked like.

 

 

Here are our TOP 5 ways on how to enjoy our NEW Choc Brownie Slice:

• Delicious heated in the microwave and paired with a spoonful of Tip Top Vanilla Ice Cream
• Transform the Choc Brownie Slice into a brownie layer cake by spreading
  jam or peanut butter in between each layer
• Invite all the children around and have fun cutting the Choc Brownie Slice into funky
  shapes, then decorate with coloured icing and pebbles
• Blend up the Choc Brownie Slice in a blender, roll the mixture into balls and dip in milk
  chocolate to create super sweet choc brownie truffles

 

Eat as a nice summer dessert by heating in the microwave and then pouring chocolate or caramel sauce over. Finish by sprinkling fresh raspberries and blueberries on top.

It was a wonderful sunny summers day this Saturday!
And what better way to take advantage of a day like that than with a Christmas picnic party?
A Coupland’s Bakeries kids Christmas party is a tradition for over a decade and is one of our season’s favourite event.
This year we had our party at Spencer park and there was everything you could possibly want for both kids and adults at Christmas time – Santa, interactive games, yummy food, fire truck and loads of fun! The highlight of the day was, of course, when the Santa arrived and the kids were each given a present to call their own.

We started our party at midday with 6 awesome cooks making BBQ for lunch. After everybody had some delicious food we continued with interactive games like 3 legged race, jumping the hoola hoop, sack race and passing the egg.
Kids were divided into age groups. They all got some lollies as a reward for trying really hard in each game and of course, the best ones were rewarded with medals for the first, second and third place. In all the games there were also parent involved which made everything more interesting for kids and much funnier.

After running in the hot sun and trying hard in all the games, there was the time for the most interesting part of the whole event, Santa! He came in a big red fire truck and after everybody gathered around him in the shade, it was time for him to give away some presents.
Fire trucks weren’t just for show, but they helped us all to cool down by spraying the water on everybody who got in their way. The kids were running around the big field and laughing their hearts out while they were trying to, at the same time, catch and avoid the water drops.

We don’t know who had more fun that day, parents or kids.
There were definitely a lot of laughter and heaps of happy faces on that sunny festive afternoon. We can’t wait for next year!
